“People are fed by the Food Industry, which pays no attention to health, and treated by the Health Industry, which pays no attention to food.” Wendell Berry
My path as a Health Coach was born out of my love for photography. I spent many an hour, not just behind the camera, but sitting in front of my computer retouching photos. While doing that, I got into the habit of listening to podcasts that interested me, usually in the personal development arena, including all things health. The more I sat and listened, the more my mind was blown. I’ve always regarded myself as someone who knew all about health, but I was quickly humbled and saddened by the realization of the truth; none of us have it right.
All of this was happening around the same time that friends and family members were suddenly getting sick. In just three short years, I lost both of my parents, my mother-in-law, and two close friends. And this wasn’t just happening to me either; it seemed like everyone I knew had their own epic stories of loss or illness. The wave of helplessness that started to overcome me was crushing. While my parents had at least made it to their 80’s, albeit by the seat of their pants, everyone else was much too young.
From that moment on, it became my mission to seek answers, maybe I wouldn’t find all of them, but I was going to find as many as possible. I never wanted that feeling of helplessness to return, at least not where I had a choice in the matter.
After reading dozens of books, watching and listening to 100’s of hours of podcasts and interviews, I had an epiphany; maybe I needed to take my obsession to the street, switch careers (mid-life) and join the tribe of health crusaders. That all happened on a Friday, and by Saturday, I enrolled in a world-class coaching program that happened to commence the following Monday. If you don’t believe in the serendipity, you are missing out!!
It’s my mission to help share all that I’ve learned on this incredible journey; to spread truth, insights, and wisdom in this insane age of chronic disease. Many of us are suffering from ailments, without the knowledge that they’re optional. “The answers are out there, and they will find you if you let them.” The Matrix
